Quite a few places to picnic, even if u don't rent a spot. Several areas to take kids to play, as well as hidden, quiet area for a more relaxed experience.
Love this park. Even though I now live very close to derby I still travel to this park to walk my dogs. There is plenty of shade and water during the really hot months.
Also love their are multiple paths and areas to walk.
Grandkids love the play grounds.

We have paid to use the indoor shelters on occasion and have enjoyed being inside in air conditioned comfort while the kids run in and out. There are multiple playgrounds with varying levels of fun and challenge. The best playground for kids and adults alike is wheelchair accessible and is close to parking and public restrooms. The walking trails are well-maintained. There are opportunities for seasonal fishing available which I am told are quite fun (I don’t fish). There is a great big hill that is really fun to sled down in the winter (if it snows enough, which is becoming rarer and rarer), even if you only have a cardboard box to sit on. There are lakes and a creek so be sure to watch young children closely. The bridges are fun to traverse. There is even a “secret” art installation - see if you can find it! (Hint: it’s to the west.)
I love this park! So many activity options on such beautiful grounds. However those who cycle need to remember there are others on the trails and that these routes are not a race track.
this has to be the best place to catch catfish, white perch, bluegills, i've fished here since 1980 and caught my limit of catfish 99% of the time on marsh mellows dipped in stink bait. their are so many big cats in here, also it is over stocked and should be stocked every 3-4yrs as their are an abundance of small cats. weed control needs to be looked at as it is a real problem from early spring to late fall. stocking more fish i s not always the best thing to do. more handicap access would be nice along the shoreline..
