I have had the pleasure of doing business with Marcos and his wife since just after they first purchased the business just a few months ago. It has been exciting to see them bring Monica's Bundt Cakes back into an important business in the Douglas Design District. They are very supportive of the arts through Final Friday and the local art displayed on their wall.
Awful cakes. They really don't taste good at all. And the new owners are so rude! Monica was so much better. Wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy
We bought a Living Social and was excited to get some quality sweets. We had mostly heard good things about the product. However, we got 2 dozen regular size cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and not much flare. The vanilla ones were extremely dry. We paid 1/2 price for them. I wouldn't buy them again even if they were always at this 1/2 price.
Rude store front manager, cake taste moedeocar, cake integrity poor. I ordered a cake in the shape of a koala for a baby shower. It was kind of cute, but looked more like Alf. I had someone with me to take it home. She placed it in her lap the whole way, however the nose started falling off before we got home. We put the cake in the refrigerator and took it out an hour later to fix the nose. But after setting on the counter for a while the ear fell off and the other wasn't far behind. One arm fell off before we arrived back at the store. When we arrived the store manager rudely asked how long the cake was out. She said it wasn't to be out for more than an hour. I told her this was for a party and it would be out at least that long. She agreed to fix it, so the next day my husband and son picked the repaired cake right before the party. Again she was very rude and acted like it was our fault. This time because of our bad driving. The cake was out an hour and a half and the nose started falling off again, and after a few more minutes the ear fell off. I tasted the cake and it was gritty...not good.
You would think if you were doing a special advertising to get people to come to your business you would put out your best product. I was not impressed, nor was anyone who was at the party we served them at.
Awesome experience, the new owners are very friendly with great ideas. I've ordered serveral cakes from them & they've seemed to amaze me with their work every time. I've enjoyed their cold brewed coffee, I highly recommend it. Their bakery is very welcoming with great smells & smiles when you first walk in. Oh & I can't forget their free samples!!!
Now if you are like me and want all of the guilt with your cupcakes do yourself a favor and go for the chocolate chocolate-chip cupcake. They are to die for!
