Personally, they aren't too bad. As far as being courteous, I've had an experience closer to 7 on a scale of 1-10 10 being kindest, non-condescending, and compassionate.
The Wichita DCF is horrible. If you are underage and the victim of any sort of crime, please, for your own sake DO NOT report it unless you are in immediate and grave medical danger. All they will do is make things worse for you, and tear your family apart (if you have one), and That's if they even let you stay with your family (no, staying at a friend or relative's house is not an option. They don't care if you have to suffer, "it's their job"). So if you get raped or assaulted, and are thinking of calling DCF, just remember that they won't help you. I understand from personal experience that this can be hard, but all DCF is there to do so is rub your already open wound and basically ruin your life. Also, don't mention anything that might make you sound depressed or they will lock you away in a psychiatric hospital like KVC until even your will to kill yourself has been depleted. It disgusts me that what I'm saying has to be true, but sadly it really IS this bad. Maybe someday they will learn how to actually help children in need because of trauma, rape, assault, abuse, etc since they are the ones who need it the most, and definitely the last people on earth who deserve to have to deal with this kind of chaos.
I however am walking in my shoes, I have no idea what it could be like for someone else. Pray about it before you go, or call...God still works in mysterious ways!
As far as the rude & crude elements, they are there so even having a number it's still a roll of the dice on who you get.
This place is pathetic,all these windows,and only 2 open,people threat don't have a vehicle have the toughest time getting here,and then you sit here all damn day!!!! i promise Wichita,ks is pitiful,reallt pitiful,and i personally have other stuff to do, and dont have time tip bring people to this damn place.ALL THESE DAMN INTERVIEW STATIONS AND ONLY 10 TO 15 PEOPLE HERE,SMFH.
Horrible service! They never answer the phone, it's always a recording. I missed my telephone interview and tried calling back. Nobody answered the phone. I left 2 messages, nobody returned my call. When I didn't receive my benefits, I called 34 times and left 4 messages (in one day). They still never returned my call. They terminated my case. Useless bums!
If you work they won't help you at all if you don't work you still have to jump through hoops to get help... Here is a tip they never answer the phone and take weeks at a time to call back so if you want to get in touch with a human being when you call immediately push 0 when the recording picks up... once this catches on I'm sure they will put a stop to that but for now it works
