Was nice to get credit for 90 days, I just wish the furniture store told me they charged $188 for credit even that short term and I may not have financed the item. They were easy to make payments with however.
I appreciate that this is one of the few places that offered me credit due to my lack of credit history. I also have student loans and that makes a lot of creditors deny me. The terms of the loan work great, for the first three months if paid in full, there are no finance charges. I was able to purchase couches and pay them off within three months. Their customer service on the phone and explanation of my contract as well as the fact that they take payments from my checking account is very convenient for me and they are very friendly. I would recommend American first finance to friends and family.
I would ask them to chill, and only call or email if the payment is ever late.
Moving forward to the current issue at hand today 10/14/17. My 90 day same as cash payoff per my agreement is $1209.43. I have made to date total payments of $1053.32. If my math serves me correctly that means my remaining payoff still within the 90 day time frame is $158.70, but the system shows $228.66? I was on the phone for an hour and five minutes trying to get someone to explain to me how the system amount makes sense. I was told that I did not pay sales tax. I literally walked the employee through my contract that says my payments include sales tax! She still could not explain it so she put me on the line with the manager that says yes total sales tax on the purchase is $158.70, which is part of the 1209.43 and the remaining is principle ($1050.73), which made total sense! I said okay well I have paid a total of $1053.32, which he broke down all of my payments I've made to date telling me how much went to tax and how much went to principle. So far I have paid $59.61 in taxes and $993.71 in principle for a total of $1053.32 per the manager. If I deduct this amount from the $1209.43 it still gets me to a remaining $158.70 ($99.09 in taxes & $57.02 in principle). At that point the manager says oh no the $1209.43 is principle ONLY so no taxes have been paid. I literally could not believe he back tracked everything after we walked through everything from THEIR system! I was then told they need to send me a "statement" that outlines everything. I asked why I need additional documentation other than the agreement I SIGNED that is supposed to lay out all terms, conditions and pricing? This is what I signed and what I am legally obligated to follow. I am unable to tell if it is a general lack of understanding that the employees have for their own program, if there is a system glitch and everyone is trying to find a way to reconcile the variance the system shows, if I am being scammed for additional money even if it is only $72.55, or if they are issuing contracts/agreements that are incomplete and inaccurate?
I have had an unpleasant experience that has proved to be more of an inconvenience to me than anything! I signed for a lease to purchase option on August 11, 2017 at a Gardner White store in Southfield, MI and was approved. My furniture was delivered within a few days and I thought everything was fine. On September 16, 2017 at 11am I received a credit alert that my credit received another hard inquiry from American First Finance of which I did not authorize. I called at 11:41am that day and spoke to a representative that told me she could assure me that my credit had not been run again, and there is only one active account. She further stated that sometimes there is a delay in the initial credit inquiry showing up on the report. I wanted to believe her that maybe it was a duplicate or delayed alert that was not truly in addition to the one previously, until I received an alert through a second credit bureau a few days later showing an inquiry for Clarity Services (credit bureau I've never heard of before). I contacted Clarity who informed me that they could not give me information over the phone that it had to be sent via mail. I received the report and sure enough there was American First Finance with the second inquiry. I called American First Finance on October 13, 2017 after receiving the report and they blamed it on the furniture store, I called the furniture store and they blamed it on American First Finance. Needless to say I have had to initiate a dispute with the credit bureau and I do not know who is at fault between them or the store.
If you want to spend $5,000 on something worth MAYBE $1500, then THIS company is for you. Yeah, they'll give you a loan, ANYONE a loan, however, beware of the extremely high, overpriced, outrageous and unrealistic Interest rates they tack on. It has been two years since I purchased a couch and chair from Ashley's. So far I've paid $4500 , unbeknownst to me. This amount was NEVER totaled on my original purchase invoice! I pay my bills on time and was not aware I had even dished out this ridiculous amount until I was curious how much I truly owed. I called the company and asked to speak to a sales manager, but how convenient, Dan seemed to be unavailable! Go figure. I called RIGHT when they opened at 8:00am. Makes you question their honesty, right? I will NEVER do business with this scam of a company again. I suggest you do your homework as well before you think about getting a loan from American First Finance. Here's some additional homework... A loan totaling $1754.58 was taken out Oct 2015. Each month, SINCE, the amount of $175 was paid on this loan. Today, August 23, 2017 the remaining amount totals $1198.14....... I'll let you all think about that.
I do not like the fact that they start calling and sending emails 2 days before the payment is due, and continue to do so for 2 days after the payment is made. This is especially annoying due to the fact that the payments are automatically taken out of my account on a certain day. I would understand if the payment was late, but I’ve never been late.
