This is one of those restaurants that has an almost cult following. I don't get it. The food isn't bad by any stretch. I've never had a meal here that was unpleasant. That said, it's nothing to write home about either. When I'm with someone and they really want to go, I have no problem eating here. I would never be the one suggesting it however.
If you are looking for bland tasteless food go here. The chicken strips were good as they were homemade. But it seems this place is using boxed or frozen items for their vegetables and some of the meat items as well. They don't season anything. The bread items were not cooked all of the way. The cinnamon role was still gooey in the middle. And to top it all off if you are under 50 and go here you will feel very out of place. The service was great here.
Great service. Very friendly waitress. Ordered the chicken fried steak - was a little bland but good. Friend ordered the chicken strips and those looked very good - I'll order those next time. You get a ton of food for the price so it's well worth it. We will be back.
Terrific food at great prices. This is the third or fourth time I have been and the service is always excellent. I read some of the lower reviews and it appears some people just want to be miserable. Highly recommend this place for some good food
We ate here last night while visiting in town. I had the ribs and she had the prime rib. The ribs were very good with a nice mesquite smoke flavor and nice and meaty ribs, not those skinny meatless ribs that the chain restaurants serve. The home made bbq sauce is very good as well. I was dipping my fries in it as well.... The prime rib was cooked extremely well and was very good. Neat old building with an interesting history. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that it isn't here where I live... I will make a special trip to eat here any time I'm in town. The mesquite from the grill smells wonderful as well.
